Ah, the Carioca Carnival. Who wouldn't want to have a chance to come here during this amazing party? The streets become crowed with people having fun, yelling, kissing, on a frenzy that only the best novels can portray. Februrary is the month where we can all lose ourselves a little bit and imagine what the world would be like with everyone partying every single day - almost a dream, a crazy thing, but a special one at that.

But, as a matter of fact, the outcasts, indies, metalheads, hipsters, they've always had a slightly different Carnival; maybe they disliked the samba, maybe they wanted to be on an environment with like minded people, they never really had a true bloco that would fulfill their tastes, a real bloco for people who love rock nightclubs, indie, e-music and sharing similar life ideals and goals.

That's when, in 2013, the first Bloquete was documented; a tiny bloco in from of Casa da Matriz, traditional underground nightclub from Rio de Janeiro, and the producers asked me design their brochures and online pieces.

Ah, o Carnaval carioca.

I've designed the pieces for 2013, 2014 and 2015, always keeping the same visual identity: confetti goodness with ink unpredictability, organic intervention on a digital environment, representing, therefore, everything we wanted with our little, laid-back bloco that started in Botafogo and ended in Lapa.

But in 2016, things changed a little bit, and the producers asked me to update Bloquete. Now our former tiny and charming bloco is bigger than ever, the ideals and lifestyle we hold dear are norm and a change in scale was needed. With that said, I've redesigned the entire event's visual identity, focusing on a more modern goal that would still retain the free spirit of pure fun that we look for on the Carnival.

Bloquete still remains a force to be reckoned with in the carioca Carnival and we, the different ones, the crazy ones, the outcasts, have where to have a ton of fun. Care to join us?

Vamos juntos?
